Entrepreneurs & Venture Capital Industry Group

The GABA Entrepreneurs & Venture Capital group is dedicated to the facilitation of technology, business and social innovation via entrepreneurial ventures and the appropriate incubation and capital funding catalysts. We aim to educate and bring together members of the business, finance, legal, academia, technology lab, not-for-profit and government realms on both sides of the Atlantic as regards new venturing opportunities, issues, trends and developments. In doing so, we hope to spread best practices learnings, as well as inspiration and passion for venturing. Our technology and business “space” focus is primarily aligned with the GABA industry groups (Cleantech, HR, Lifesciences, Media & Entertainment, Semiconductors & IT, Telecommunications), but will always be open to other industries, particularly emerging and heretofore undefined ones.

  • Characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
  • Building and strategically leading high-performance entrepreneurial teams.
  • Components of a success-enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Management of business cycles, scaling issues, responses to new competitive or regulatory threats.
  • Creating a disruptive technology and staying ahead of the commoditization curve.
  • Cultural issues: large v. small company paradigms and cross-fertizilation; cross-functional cooperation within a company; fostering and capitalizing on diversity; international hiring, deal-making and marketing.
  • Managing, retaining and changing talent in the firm.
